THE COUNTRY DETECTIVE
General Firsov, a principled and honest chief of the local police department, is set up by his foes and he is accused of an accidental murder during a hunt. However, unexpectedly for them, their elaborated plan is ruined by a provincial district policeman Captain Nikolai Semashko, in whose district the crime took place. After the accusations are lifted, General offers the energetic country man to work at the town police station.
Semashko moves to the town, where he immediately ends up between three fires. His new boss, Major Kudyma, from the very first day tries to get rid of the intractable General’s foundling. Corrupted high-ranking officials, who are doing their best to have General Firsov fired from the department, suddenly realize that while Semachko is in the department they can forget about their dream. Meanwhile, there is a real storm going in in Semashko’s personal life. His fiancée and her father, an owner of a big agricultural holding, had different plans regarding him. Trying to return him to his native village using both threats and love, Svetlana and her father, against their own will, create serious problems for Semshko.
The inborn investigator’s talent allows the determined Captain to solve the most tangled crimes, and his versions are always the most correct. But constant troubles at home and work create funny, but most often dangerous, situations for Semashko. If the provincial district cop used to dream about an interesting and merry life, now the reality has exceeded all his expectations.
